WC–Ni composite coatings were developed by the powder cloth and the vacuum brazing technology. The wear resistance and the corrosion resistance of the brazed WC–Ni coatings were investigated. The peeling coating samples were prepared by using solder mask during brazing. The microstructures for the powder cloth and for the brazed coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The distribution of elements in the different area of the brazed coatings was determined by energy dispersive X‐ray maps. It shows that the segregation of chromium carbides occurs during brazing. Apart from penetrating into the interspaces of WC particles, the Ni‐based filler can also infiltrate and spread on the substrate surface. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ni–Co–P/nano‐sized Si3N4 composite coating was successfully fabricated on aluminum alloys by electroless plating in this work. The surface and cross‐sectional morphologies, composition, microstructure, microhardness, friction and wear behavior of deposits were investigated with SEM, EDS, XRD, Vickers hardness and high‐speed reciprocating friction, respectively. It was found that a Ni–Co–P/nano‐sized Si3N4 composite coating on aluminum alloy substrate is uniform and compact. The existence of nano‐sized Si3N4 particles in the Ni–Co–P alloy matrix causes a rougher surface with a granular appearance, and increases the microhardness but decreases the friction coefficients and wear rate of electroless coatings. Meanwhile, the effects of heat treatment at 200, 300, 400 and 500 °C for 1 h on the hardness and tribological properties were researched. It is revealed that both of the microhardness and tribological properties of Ni–Co–P coatings and Ni–Co–P/Si3N4 composite coatings increase with the increase of heating temperature in the range of 200–400 °C, but show different behavior for the two coatings after annealing at 500 °C. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite coatings doped copper acetate and polyurethane (PU) were prepared on rubber substrate by low‐energy electron beam dispersion technique. The effects of dopant and glow discharge treatment on the surface morphology, structure and tribological properties of the coatings were investigated. The results showed that Cu–PTFE composite coatings form uniform surface and dense column structure with spherical aggregations under glow discharge treatment. PU coating shows the large size of protuberance structure but PU–PTFE coating presents spherical structure. Both of the coatings become relative dense and smooth after discharge treatment, and Cu–PU–PTFE composite coatings possess a smoother surface and lower polar component of surface energy. Cu doping weakens the crystallinity and ordering degree of composite coatings, but glow discharge increases the ordering degree and branched structure of C―H groups. Friction experiment indicated that Cu fails to improve the wear resistance of PTFE coatings but glow discharge treatment can do it. Cu–PU–PTFE coatings after discharge treatment have the higher wear resistance and lower coefficient of friction. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The Ni–P alloy coatings were obtained on alumina borate whisker‐reinforced pure aluminum composite by electro‐deposition. The initial electro‐deposition behavior of the Ni–P alloys on the composite and pure aluminum was studied, respectively. It was found that the composition and the morphology of materials had a distinct effect on the initial electro‐deposition behavior of the Ni–P alloys. The Ni–P alloy coatings preferred to nucleate at the composite as compared with the pure aluminum. Moreover, the Ni–P particles were prone to deposit at the whisker/Al interface in the composite. The Ni–P coatings were barely depositing upon the surface of whisker during the plating process. As the deposition time increased, the Ni–P particles that were deposited on the surface of the composite grew gradually. These Ni–P particles linked to each other and eventually covered the whisker surface. Moreover, it can be found that the surfaces of the composite were gradually covered by Ni–P coatings and the anticorrosion performance of the coated composite increased remarkably with the increase in the deposition time. When the deposition time is 60 min, only the Ni–P diffraction peak could be detected. In this case, the coated composite had significantly better corrosion resistant, which is attributed to the surface of composite was perfectly covered by the Ni–P coatings. Ni matrix composite coatings reinforced with nano‐ and microceramic particles were analyzed by radio frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (Rf‐GDOES). An interesting phenomenon related to the sputtering and excitation modes of this technique was observed. During plasma sputtering with Rf‐GDOES, the micro‐SiC particles were detached from metal matrix and did not contribute to the analytical signals. The same was not found in composite coatings containing nanoceramic particles. This anomalous behavior was confirmed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) investigation and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations into Rf‐GDOES craters that showed the presence of residual non‐sputtered microparticles. Various attempts were done in order to minimize this problem, mainly by varying the analysis parameters of the used instrumentation, but without any relevant success. Some suggestions were then proposed for explaining the observed phenomenon, moreover possible solutions (e.g. by using a strong magnetic field or changing plasma gas to be more energetic) are discussed. The electrodeposition of chromium from a trivalent chromium bath has been described in this work. The electrocomposite coatings of chromium with hard abrasive particles were investigated. The chromium–tungsten carbide (Cr? WC) composite coatings were obtained by suspending different concentrations of WC particles in a trivalent chromium plating solution to improve the various properties of the chromium deposit layers. The effect of operating conditions on the deposit layers has been studied. On the other hand, the effect of non‐ionic polymeric surfactant [nonyl phenol ethoxylate with 12 units of ethylene oxide (NPE)] as an additive in enhancing the incorporation of the WC ceramic particles in the chromium metal matrix was investigated. It was found that the co‐deposition of the WC ceramic particles depends on the concentration of the additive and its efficiency in reducing the surface tension of the electroplating solution. The mechanism of incorporation of WC particles into a growing deposit was suggested and discussed in view of the zeta potential and degree of wetability of WC particles in the plating solution. Furthermore, the adsorption behaviour of the additive on WC particles was analysed according to the Frumkin isotherm. The surface morphology and the distribution of WC in the chromium metal matrix were investigated. The properties of the deposit layers, hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance were determined and compared with free chromium deposits. The test results reveal that the Cr? WC deposit layer shows better performance compared with the chromium‐free deposit. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐sodium sulfopropyl lauryl maleate‐co‐2‐hydroxy‐4‐(3‐methacryloxy‐2‐hydroxylpropoxy) benzophenone)/TiO2 (i.e., poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA)/TiO2) composite particles were prepared by ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization. To study the dispersion and UV‐stability of the composite particles, laser diffraction particle size analyzer (LDPSA), ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectroscopy (UV‐vis), UV‐vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and the weight loss measurement were used. The results indicate that the dispersion of the poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA)/TiO2 composite particles prepared by ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization is good. And the composite particles can absorb UV light; the ultraviolet absorption strength of poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) grafted onto the surface of TiO2 has not changed after UV irradiation while that of PMMA changed significantly. The UV absorption strength, weight loss, and Tg changes are in the order PMMA> poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) >PMMA grafted onto TiO2> poly(MMA‐co‐M12‐co‐BPMA) grafted onto TiO2. These results show that the ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization will enhance the UV stability of composite particles, and the UV‐stability of PMMA can be enhanced by the introduction of the organic UV‐stabilizer BPMA and the inorganic UV‐stabilizer titanium dioxide into the PMMA chains by covalent bond, and the effect of the BPMA and the TiO2 used together is better than that used, respectively. In this paper, we have reported the anti‐corrosion performance of ceria / poly (indole‐co‐pyrrole) (Ce/(poly(In‐co‐Py)) bilayer coating on low nickel stainless steel (LN SS). Electrochemical polymerization of (poly (In‐co‐Py)) was achieved on ceria‐coated LN SS (CeO2/LN SS) in acetonitrile medium containing LiClO4 (ACN‐LiClO4) by cyclic voltammetric technique. The coatings were characterized by analytical techniques like Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive analysis of X‐ray, respectively. The mechanical behavior of the coatings was studied using peel test, hardness and wear resistance tests. The corrosion defensive performance of this bilayer coating on LN SS was investigated using electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 0.5 M H2SO4. These results show that the bilayer coating on LN SS lowered the permeability of corrosive ions present in the acidic medium and thus acts as a barrier against the attack of corrosive environment. Photodeposition has been widely used as a mild and efficient synthetic method to deposit co‐catalysts. It is also worth studying how to synthesize non‐noble metal photocatalysts with uniform dispersion. Different synthetic conditions in photodeposition have a certain influence on particle size distribution and photocatalytic activity. Therefore, we designed experiments to prepare the inexpensive composite photocatalyst Ni(OH)2/g‐C3N4 by photodeposition. The Ni(OH)2 co‐catalysts disperse uniformly with particle sizes of about 10 nm. The photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of Ni(OH)2/g‐C3N4 reached about 19 mmol g?1 h?1, with the Ni(OH)2 deposition amount about 1.57 %. During 16 h stability testing, the rate of hydrogen production did not decrease significantly. The composite catalyst also revealed a good hydrogen production performance under sunlight. The Ni(OH)2 co‐catalyst enhanced the separation ability of photogenerated carriers, which was proved by surface photovoltage and fluorescence analysis.  相似文献

The effects of Y2O3 on the microstructure, phase composition of the coatings, microhardness and wear resistance of cobalt‐based composite coatings prepared by laser cladding were investigated. The TA15 titanium alloy was selected as substrate which the cobalt‐based composite powder with different content of Y2O3 was cladded on. The microstructure of the coatings was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and metallurgical microscope. The phase structure of the coatings was determined by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and the microhardness and wear resistance of the coatings were measured by hardness tester and wear testing machine. The results show that the rare earth oxide Y2O3 can refine and purify the microstructure of the coatings, reduce the porosities and cracks and improve compactness of the coatings. Moreover the addition of Y2O3 improves the microhardness of the coatings and reduces the friction coefficient, thus improving the wear property of the coatings. And the wear resistance of the coating with Y2O3 has improved about 50 times; the highest value of microhardness in the coating is HV1181.1. And 0.8 wt% content of Y2O3 in the coating is the best choice for improving the microhardness and wear resistance of the coating. It is feasible to improve the microstructure and tribological properties of laser cladding coatings by adding of Y2O3. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Conductive composite films of poly(styrene‐con‐butylacrylate) copolymers filled with low‐density, Ni‐plated core‐shell polymeric particles were prepared and their behaviors of positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTCR) were investigated. When the conductive fillers in the composite film were loaded beyond the critical volume, 10 up to 25 vol %, composite films exhibited a unique electrical resistant transition behavior, which the electrical resistance rapidly increased by several orders of magnitude at the critical temperature. The PTCR transition temperature, in general, occurred before the glass transition temperature of polymer matrix. Further increased the conductive filler loading to 30 vol %, the overpacked conduction paths were formed in the entire composite and the PTCR effects became blurred. While the composite film treated with thermal cycle several times from room temperature up to 120 °C, the electrical resistivity increased accompanied with the shift of the PTCR transition to lower temperature. The reason might have been caused by the formed interfacial cracks within the composite film. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 45: 322–329, 2007  相似文献

Composite Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings were prepared by simultaneous electroless deposition of Ni–P and nano‐TiO2 on a low carbon steel substrate. The deposition was carried out from stirred solutions containing suspended nano‐TiO2 particles. The Ni–P and Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings before and after heat treatment were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The micro‐structural morphologies of the coatings significantly varied with the nano‐TiO2 content. The corrosion resistance of as‐plated and heat‐treated Ni–P and Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings was investigated by anodic polarization, Tafel plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) studies in 3.5% NaCl solution. Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coating exhibited superior corrosion resistance over Ni–P coating. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The control of membrane morphology and microstructure is crucial to improve the separation performance of molecular‐sieve membranes. This can be enabled by making thin, dense, and uniform seed‐crystal coatings, which are then intergrown into continuous membranes. Herein, we show a novel and simple floating particle coating method can give closely packed monolayers of zeolite nanosheets on nonporous or porous supports. The zeolite nanosheet monolayer is formed at the air–water interface in a conical Teflon trough. As the water in the trough is drained, the monolayer is deposited on a support placed below. Membranes prepared by gel‐free secondary growth of the nanosheets deposited by this method show unprecedented ultra‐selective performance for separation of para‐ from ortho‐xylene (separation factor >10 000).  相似文献

NiCo–Al2O3 composite coatings were prepared by electrodeposition in a sulfamate plating bath containing Al2O3 particles to be co-deposited under sonication. For reliable determination of the microstructure, detailed studies on composite cross-sections were carried out by energy-dispersive spectrometer (matrix composition, particle content) and FE-SEM/electron backscattered diffraction data (particle distribution, grain size), accompanied by XRD analyses concerning texture, lattice parameter, grain size, and residual stress. The NiCo matrix with a Co/Co + Ni ratio up to 0.4 is a face-centered cubic solid solution with <100> and <110> fiber textures. The distribution of the particles (size 250 nm) was well-dispersed and enhanced up to 15 wt.% by ultrasound application during plating. Vickers hardness increased up to 50% by dispersion hardening. First-order residual stress in the matrix increased with rising Co content, thus decreasing wear resistance and revealing the complex of composite properties with partially opposite effects.  相似文献

Hard chrome plating has been used in several different applications in industries that require abrasive sliding wear resistance, such as hydraulic pistons, shafts or bearings. However, the increasing environmental and worker safety pressures on electrolytic hard chrome are leading companies to adopt alternatives. The improvements of the high‐velocity‐oxy‐fuel (HVOF) thermal spray process allow the chromium coating replacement with a comparable or superior surface treatment and are more environmentally friendly. This HVOF process, as a flexible dry‐coating technology, avoids high‐volume waste streams and enables a flexible choice of coating material for each application. The cobalt–chromium‐cemented tungsten carbides are some of the easiest materials to spray and the WC‐10Co‐4Cr coatings have demonstrated superior performance over hard chrome with regard to mechanical and tribological properties. In this work, this coating has been deposited with a Sulzer Metco WokaJet‐400 kerosene fuel spray gun, and the spray conditions have been optimized in order to ensure the best properties of the coatings. The mechanical and tribological properties have been evaluated in coatings sprayed with four deposition conditions that involve different gas flow rates. The most wear‐resistant coating is obtained with those HVOF parameters that prevent decarburization of WC particles and, at the same time, allow an adequate agglomerate melting giving a good intersplat adhesion. The results indicate that HVOF‐sprayed WC‐CoCr coatings are a reliable alternative to electrolytic hard chrome (EHC) in the aeronautical industry to coat landing gear components. In particular, in the dry wear tests, the WC‐CoCr coatings outperform hard chrome coatings in wear resistance. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ultra-dispersed diamond UDD particles were codeposited in gold matrix coatings from a sulphite electrolyte, changing bath load and key operating parameters. The influence of electrolyte pH, current density and bath load on current efficiency, particle co-deposition, surface morphology and microhardness of composite coatings was investigated. UDD incorporation is mainly affected by bath load; however, particle embedding is specifically sensitive to electrolyte pH and deposition current density. The maximum mass fraction of carbon in the coating, about 0.55%, is obtained by depositing from ultrasonically pre-treated electrolytes with UDD concentration 20 g l−1, pH 9.5 and 3 mA cm−2 . Au/UDD composites are characterised by an increased microhardness and improved wear resistance. When compared to pure gold coatings which are notoriously weak, Au/UDD electrodeposits from sulphite electrolytes represent a significant improvement. Electroless Ni–P and Ni–P–TiCN composite coatings have been deposited successfully on Al substrates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X‐ray (EDX) techniques were applied to study the surface morphology and the chemical composition of the deposited films. Moreover, X‐ray diffraction (XRD) proved that Ni–P and Ni–P–TiCN deposits have amorphous structures. The properties of Ni–P–TiCN/Al composite films such as hardness, corrosion resistance and electrocatalytic activity were examined and compared with that of Ni–P/Al film. The results of hardness measurements reveal that the presence of TiCN particles with Ni–P matrix improves its hardness. Additionally, the performance against corrosion was examined using Tafel lines and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques in both of 0.6 M NaCl and a mixture of 0.5 M H2SO4 with 2 ppm HF solutions. The results indicate that the incorporation of high dispersed TiCN particles into Ni–P matrix led to a positive shift of the corrosion potential and an increase in the corrosion resistance for all aluminum substrates after their coating with Ni–P–TiCN. In addition, Ni–P–TiCN/Al electrodes showed a higher electrochemical catalytic activity and stability toward methanol oxidation in 0.5 M NaOH solution compared with that of Ni–P/Al. TiC/a‐C:H and a‐C:H nanocomposite coatings were prepared on AISI 440C steel substrates using magnetron sputtering process. A comparative study was made on their composition and microstructure by Raman spectroscopy and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The tribological properties of two types of carbon‐based coatings were investigated by pin‐on‐disc tribometer under the sand‐dust conditions concerning the influence of applied load, amount of sand and sand particle sizes. The results show that these carbon‐based coatings exhibited high tribological performance with low friction coefficient and wear rate under the sand‐dust environments. However, the TiC/a‐C:H coatings exhibit relatively higher fluctuant friction coefficient as well as higher wear rate in comparison with the a‐C:H coatings under sand‐dust environments. The formation of nanocrystalline hard TiC phase distributed in amorphous carbon matrix decreased the residual stress but significantly increased the hardness and Young's modulus of TiC/a‐C:H coatings, and consequently caused a relatively higher abrasive and fatigue wear loss under the sand‐dust conditions. Dual‐responsive micrometer‐sized core‐shell composite polymer particles were prepared by dispersion polymerization followed by seeded copolymerization. Polystyrene (PS) particles prepared by dispersion polymerization were used as core particles. N‐isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM) and methacrylic acid (MAA) were used to induce dual‐responsive that is thermo‐ and pH‐responsive properties in the shell layer of composite polymer particles, prepared by seeded copolymerization with PS core particles. Temperature‐ and pH‐dependent adsorption behaviors of some macromolecules on composite polymer particles indicate that produced composite polymer particles exhibit dual‐responsive surface properties.
