In this paper, we consider a Geo/Geo/1 retrial queue with non-persistent customers and working vacations. The server works at a lower service rate in a working vacation period. Assume that the customers waiting in the orbit request for service with a constant retrial rate, if the arriving retrial customer finds the server busy, the customer will go back to the orbit with probability q (0≤q≤1), or depart from the system immediately with probability $\bar{q}=1-q$ . Based on the necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be stable, we develop the recursive formulae for the stationary distribution by using matrix-geometric solution method. Furthermore, some performance measures of the system are calculated and an average cost function is also given. We finally illustrate the effect of the parameters on the performance measures by some numerical examples.  相似文献

The paper studies a multiserver retrial queueing system withm servers. Arrival process is a point process with strictly stationary and ergodic increments. A customer arriving to the system occupies one of the free servers. If upon arrival all servers are busy, then the customer goes to the secondary queue, orbit, and after some random time retries more and more to occupy a server. A service time of each customer is exponentially distributed random variable with parameter μ1. A time between retrials is exponentially distributed with parameter μ2 for each customer. Using a martingale approach the paper provides an analysis of this system. The paper establishes the stability condition and studies a behavior of the limiting queue-length distributions as μ2 increases to infinity. As μ2→∞, the paper also proves the convergence of appropriate queue-length distributions to those of the associated “usual” multiserver queueing system without retrials. An algorithm for numerical solution of the equations, associated with the limiting queue-length distribution of retrial systems, is provided. AMS 2000 Subject classifications: 60K25 60H30.  相似文献

We consider the following Type of problems. Calls arrive at a queue of capacity K (which is called the primary queue), and attempt to get served by a single server. If upon arrival, the queue is full and the server is busy, the new arriving call moves into an infinite capacity orbit, from which it makes new attempts to reach the primary queue, until it finds it non-full (or it finds the server idle). If the queue is not full upon arrival, then the call (customer) waits in line, and will be served according to the FIFO order. If λ is the arrival rate (average number per time unit) of calls and μ is one over the expected service time in the facility, it is well known that μ > λ is not always sufficient for stability. The aim of this paper is to provide general conditions under which it is a sufficient condition. In particular, (i) we derive conditions for Harris ergodicity and obtain bounds for the rate of convergence to the steady state and large deviations results, in the case that the inter-arrival times, retrial times and service times are independent i.i.d. sequences and the retrial times are exponentially distributed; (ii) we establish conditions for strong coupling convergence to a stationary regime when either service times are general stationary ergodic (no independence assumption), and inter-arrival and retrial times are i.i.d. exponentially distributed; or when inter-arrival times are general stationary ergodic, and service and retrial times are i.i.d. exponentially distributed; (iii) we obtain conditions for the existence of uniform exponential bounds of the queue length process under some rather broad conditions on the retrial process. We finally present conditions for boundedness in distribution for the case of nonpatient (or non persistent) customers. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This paper investigates a batch arrival retrial queue with general retrial times, where the server is subject to starting failures and provides two phases of heterogeneous service to all customers under Bernoulli vacation schedules. Any arriving batch finding the server busy, breakdown or on vacation enters an orbit. Otherwise one customer from the arriving batch enters a service immediately while the rest join the orbit. After the completion of two phases of service, the server either goes for a vacation with probability p or may wait for serving the next customer with probability (1 − p). We construct the mathematical model and derive the steady-state distribution of the server state and the number of customers in the system/orbit. Such a model has potential application in transfer model of e-mail system.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a retrial and repairable multi-component system with mixed warm and cold standby components. It is assumed that the failure times of primary (operating) and warm standby components follow exponential distributions. When a component fails, it is sent to a service station with a single server (repairman) and no waiting space. The failed component is repaired if the server is idle and it has to enter an orbit if the server is busy. The failed component in the orbit will try to get the repair service again after an exponentially distributed random time period. The repair time also has an exponential distribution. The mean time-to-failure, MTTF, and the steady-state availability, AT(∞), are derived in this retrial and repairable system. Using a numerical example, we compare the systems with and without retrials in terms of the cost/benefit ratios. Sensitivity analysis for the mean time-to-failure and the steady-state availability are investigated as well.  相似文献

We consider a multi-server retrial queue with the Batch Markovian Arrival Process (BMAP). The servers are identical and independent of each other. The service time distribution of a customer by a server is of the phase (PH) type. If a group of primary calls meets idle servers the primary calls occupy the corresponding number of servers. If the number of idle servers is insufficient the rest of calls go to the orbit of unlimited size and repeat their attempts to get service after exponential amount of time independently of each other. Busy servers are subject to breakdowns and repairs. The common flow of breakdowns is the MAP. An event of this flow causes a failure of any busy server with equal probability. When a server fails the repair period starts immediately. This period has PH type distribution and does not depend on the repair time of other broken-down servers and the service time of customers occupying the working servers. A customer whose service was interrupted goes to the orbit with some probability and leaves the system with the supplementary probability. We derive the ergodicity condition and calculate the stationary distribution and the main performance characteristics of the system. Illustrative numerical examples are presented.  相似文献

We consider an M X /G/1 queueing system with two phases of heterogeneous service and Bernoulli vacation schedule which operate under a linear retrial policy. In addition, each individual customer is subject to a control admission policy upon the arrival. This model generalizes both the classical M/G/1 retrial queue with arrivals in batches and a two phase batch arrival queue with a single vacation under Bernoulli vacation schedule. We will carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system , including existence of the stationary regime, embedded Markov chain, steady state distribution of the server state and number of customer in the retrial group, stochastic decomposition and calculation of the first moment.  相似文献

Summary This paper is concerned with the study of a newM/G/1 retrial queueing system in which the delays between retrials are exponentially distributed random variables with linear intensityg(n)=α+nμ, when there aren≥1 customers in the retrial group. This new retrial discipline will be calledlinear control policy. We carry out an extensive analysis of the model, including existence of stationary regime, stationary distribution of the embedded Markov chain at epochs of service completions, joint distribution of the orbit size and the server state in steady state and busy period. The results agree with known results for special cases.  相似文献

A discrete-time GI/G/1 retrial queue with Bernoulli retrials and time-controlled vacation policies is investigated in this paper. By representing the inter-arrival, service and vacation tlmes using a Markov-based approach, we are able to analyze this model as a level-dependent quasi-birth-and-death (LDQBD) process which makes the model algorithmically tractable. Several performance measures such as the stationary probability distribution and the expected number of customers in the orbit have been discussed with two different policies: deterministic time-controlled system and random time-controlled system. To give a comparison with the known vacation policy in the literature, we present the exhaustive vacation policy as a contrast between these policies under the early arrival system (EAS) and the late arrival system with delayed access (LAS-DA). Significant difference between EAS and LAS-DA is illustrated by some numerical examples.  相似文献

We consider an M [X]/G/1 retrial queue subject to breakdowns where the retrial time is exponential and independent of the number of customers applying for service. If a coming batch of customers finds the server idle, one of the arriving customers begins his service immediately and the rest joins a retrial group (called orbit) to repeat his request later; otherwise, if the server is busy or down, all customers of the coming batch enter the orbit. It is assumed that the server has a constant failure rate and arbitrary repair time distribution. We study the ergodicity of the embedded Markov chain, its stationary distribution and the joint distribution of the server state and the orbit size in steady-state. The orbit and system size distributions are obtained as well as some performance measures of the system. The stochastic decomposition property and the asymptotic behavior under high rate of retrials are discussed. We also analyse some reliability problems, the k-busy period and the ordinary busy period of our retrial queue. Besides, we give a recursive scheme to compute the distribution of the number of served customers during the k-busy period and the ordinary busy period. The effects of several parameters on the system are analysed numerically. I. Atencia’s and Moreno’s research is supported by the MEC through the project MTM2005-01248.  相似文献

The main aim of this paper is to study the steady state behavior of an M/G/1-type retrial queue in which there are two flows of arrivals namely ingoing calls made by regular customers and outgoing calls made by the server when it is idle. We carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system, including stability condition, embedded Markov chain, steady state joint distribution of the server state and the number of customers in the orbit (i.e., the retrial group) and calculation of the first moments. We also obtain light-tailed asymptotic results for the number of customers in the orbit. We further formulate a more complicate but realistic model where the arrivals and the service time distributions are modeled in terms of the Markovian arrival process (MAP) and the phase (PH) type distribution.  相似文献

In this study, we consider an M/M/c retrial queue with Bernoulli vacation under a single vacation policy. When an arrived customer finds a free server, the customer receives the service immediately; otherwise the customer would enter into an orbit. After the server completes the service, the server may go on a vacation or become idle (waiting for the next arriving, retrying customer). The retrial system is analysed as a quasi-birth-and-death process. The sufficient and necessary condition of system equilibrium is obtained. The formulae for computing the rate matrix and stationary probabilities are derived. The explicit close forms for system performance measures are developed. A cost model is constructed to determine the optimal values of the number of servers, service rate, and vacation rate for minimizing the total expected cost per unit time. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate this optimization approach. The effects of various parameters in the cost model on system performance are investigated.  相似文献

Sherman and Kharoufeh (Oper. Res. Lett. 34:697–705, [2006]) considered an M/M/1 type queueing system with unreliable server and retrials. In this model it is assumed that if the server fails during service of a customer, the customer leaves the server, joins a retrial group and in random intervals repeats attempts to get service. We suggest an alternative method for analysis of the Markov process, which describes the functioning of the system, and find the joint distribution of the server state, the number of customers in the queue and the number of customers in the retrial group in steady state.   相似文献

We consider several multi-server retrial queueing models with exponential retrial times that arise in the literature of retrial queues. The effect of retrial rates on the behavior of the queue length process is investigated via sample path approach. We show that the number of customers in orbit and in the system as a whole are monotonically changed if the retrial rates in one system are bounded by the rates in second one. The monotonicity results are applied to show the convergence of generalized truncated systems that have been widely used for approximating the stationary queue length distribution in retrial queues. This paper studies a discrete-time Geo/G/1 retrial queue where the server is subject to starting failures. We analyse the Markov chain underlying the regarded queueing system and present some performance measures of the system in steady-state. Then, we give two stochastic decomposition laws and find a measure of the proximity between the system size distributions of our model and the corresponding model without retrials. We also develop a procedure for calculating the distributions of the orbit and system size as well as the marginal distributions of the orbit size when the server is idle, busy or down. Besides, we prove that the M/G/1 retrial queue with starting failures can be approximated by its discrete-time counterpart. Finally, some numerical examples show the influence of the parameters on several performance characteristics. This work is supported by the DGINV through the project BFM2002-02189.  相似文献

Consider a Geo/Geo/1 retrial queue with working vacations and vacation interruption, and assume requests in the orbit try to get service from the server with a constant retrial rate. During the working vacation period, customers can be served at a lower rate. If there are customers in the system after a service completion instant, the vacation will be interrupted and the server comes back to the normal working level. We use a quasi birth and death process to describe the considered system and derive a condition for the stability of the model. Using the matrix-analytic method, we obtain the stationary probability distribution and some performance measures. Furthermore, we prove the conditional stochastic decomposition for the queue length in the orbit. Finally, some numerical examples are presented.  相似文献

We consider a single server retrial queue with waiting places in service area and three classes of customers subject to the server breakdowns and repairs. When the server is unavailable, the arriving class-1 customer is queued in the priority queue with infinite capacity whereas class-2 customer enters the retrial group. The class-3 customers which are also called negative customers do not receive service. If the server is found serving a customer, the arriving class-3 customer breaks the server down and simultaneously deletes the customer under service. The failed server is sent to repair immediately and after repair it is assumed as good as new. We study the ergodicity of the embedded Markov chains and their stationary distributions. We obtain the steady-state solutions for both queueing measures and reliability quantities. Moreover, we investigate the stochastic decomposition law, the busy period of the system and the virtual waiting times. Finally, an application to cellular mobile networks is provided and the effects of various parameters on the system performance are analyzed numerically.  相似文献

We consider a discrete-time Geo/G/1 retrial queue in which the retrial time has a general distribution and the server, after each service completion, begins a process of search in order to find the following customer to be served. We study the Markov chain underlying the considered queueing system and its ergodicity condition. We find the generating function of the number of customers in the orbit and in the system. We derive the stochastic decomposition law and as an application we give bounds for the proximity between the steady-state distributions for our queueing system and its corresponding standard system. Also, we develop recursive formulae for calculating the steady-state distribution of the orbit and system sizes. Besides, we prove that the M/G/1 retrial queue with general retrial times can be approximated by our corresponding discrete-time system. Finally, we give numerical examples to illustrate the effect of the parameters on several performance characteristics.
