The in-plane magnetic anisotropy in Ni/FeMn and Ni90Fe10/FeMn exchange-biased bilayers prepared by co-evaporation under molecular beam epitaxy conditions is investigated employing longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). The exchange anisotropy was induced by a magnetic field cooling immediately after the deposition of the bilayers. Besides the induced term, the presence of an additional uniaxial anisotropy in the FM layers was detected both by MOKE and FMR, and the characteristic directions of these two anisotropy terms are not coincident. The interplay between the anisotropy contributions is discussed considering micromagnetic simulations and the in-plane resonance condition for different magnetic field orientation. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy were used to complement the characterization of the samples.  相似文献

We report on the ab-plane polarized reflectance of an untwinned single crystal over the frequency range from 80 to (10 meV-4 eV) at temperatures between 10 and 300 K. We find a clear anisotropy in the ab-plane optical conductivity above and below , which is very similar to that formerly published data of (M.A. Quijada et al., Z. Phys. B 94, 255 (1994)). We employ both the one-component and two-component analyses to the optical data, which suggest that the normal-state infrared anisotropy of originates not only from the mass anisotropy, but also from the scattering rate anisotropy. Our results provide evidence that the electronic structures within the plane are anisotropic. In the superconducting state, there is a definite ab-plane anisotropy to the far-infrared absorption. This anisotropy could be due either to anisotropy of the superconducting gap or to anisotropy of the mid-infrared component to the conductivity. We also observe the superconducting condensate is anisotropic: The value of the superconducting penetration depth in the a-direction is slightly smaller than that along the b-axis. Based on the theoretical model we have proposed, a complete study on the kinetics of photoinduced anisotropy in diarylethene films is performed. The kinetic curves of molecular concentration, photoinduced dichroism and birefringence are calculated, respectively. It is found that the colored molecular concentration decreases with the increase of the excitation exposure until saturation, and the photoinduced anisotropy increases to a maximum and then decreases gradually. The optimal exposure is 260 J/cm2. In addition, the transmittance of probe beam reflecting the anisotropy is measured by experiment. The theoretical results are compared with experimental data, and basic concordance is found between both sets of data.  相似文献

We study quantum communication through an anisotropic Heisenberg XY chain in a transverse magnetic field. We find that for some time t and anisotropy parameter γ, one can transfer a state with a relatively high fidelity. In the strong-field regime, the anisotropy does not significantly affect the fidelity while in the weak-field regime the affect is quite pronounced. The most interesting case is the intermediate regime where the oscillation of the fidelity with time is low and the high-fidelity peaks are relatively broad. This would, in principle, allow for quantum communication in realistic circumstances. Moreover, we calculate the purity, or tangle, as a measure of the entanglement between one spin and all the other spins in the chain and find that the stronger the anisotropy and exchange interaction, the more entanglement will be generated for a given time.  相似文献

By the multiple scattering method and the extended Mie theory, we have calculated the photonic band structure of the photonic crystals consisting of the dielectric spheres with uniaxial/biaxial anisotropy. The results demonstrate that for fcc lattice structure there exist two partial photonic band gaps which does not appear in the isotropic case. Among them, the lower one, lying between the second and the third bands, exists in one third of the first Brillouin zone, while the upper one, opening between the fourth and fifth bands, can appear simultaneously in the rest two thirds of the first Brillouin zone. The effects of anisotropy on the band structures are studied as well, which suggests the biaxial anisotropy are much more flexible than the uniaxial anisotropy in modulating the band structures.  相似文献

Classical uniaxially anisotropic Heisenberg and XY antiferromagnets in a field along the easy axis on a square lattice are analysed, applying ground state considerations and Monte Carlo techniques. The models are known to display antiferromagnetic and spin-flop phases. In the Heisenberg case, a single-ion anisotropy is added to the XXZ antiferromagnet, enhancing or competing with the uniaxial exchange anisotropy. Its effect on the stability of non-collinear structures of biconical type is studied. In the case of the anisotropic XY antiferromagnet, the transition region between the antiferromagnetic and spin-flop phases is found to be dominated by degenerate bidirectional fluctuations. The phase diagram is observed to resemble closely that of the XXZ antiferromagnet without single-ion anisotropy.  相似文献

The magnetization behavior and the magnetic entropy change of a system made up of ferromagnetically interacting particles are calculated by using Monte Carlo simulation. The effect of the magnetic anisotropy of particles and the dipolar–dipolar interaction between particles on the magnetization and the magnetic entropy change of the system are discussed. It is found that there is no spontaneous magnetization, both the magnetic anisotropy of particles and the dipolar–dipolar interaction between particles restrains the system's magnetizing in the external magnetic field. The magnetic entropy change decreases with the increase in temperature in the system without the dipolar–dipolar interaction; however, the dipolar–dipolar interaction between particles makes the magnetic entropy change of the system have maximum value at low temperatures.  相似文献

We determine the minimal domain structure for the equilibrium thickness of stripes as well as for the minimal energy of the domain configuration in ultrathin films of ferromagnetically coupled spins, where the easy direction of magnetization is perpendicular to the film. It is found that the equilibrium thickness of stripes and walls depend on the exchange energy. The normalized anisotropy, f, depends on interplay between the magnetic and anisotropy energies and is almost independent of the exchange energy inside the wall. The results are compared with the experimental data for thin Ag/Fe/Ag (0 0 1) films and a good coincidence is obtained between both results.  相似文献

The reorientation of the magnetization of a ferromagnetic monolayer is calculated with the help of many-body Green's function theory. This allows, in contrast to other spin wave theories, a satisfactory calculation of magnetic properties over the entire temperature range of interest since interactions between spin waves are taken into account. A Heisenberg Hamiltonian plus a second-order uniaxial single-ion anisotropy and an external magnetic field is treated by the Tyablikov (Random Phase Approximation: RPA) decoupling of the exchange interaction term and the Anderson-Callen decoupling of the anisotropy term. The orientation of the magnetization is determined by the spin components (), which are calculated with the help of the spectral theorem. The knowledge of the orientation angle allows a non-perturbative determination of the temperature dependence of the effective second-order anisotropy coefficient. Results for the Green's function theory are compared with those obtained with mean-field theory (MFT). We find significant differences between these approaches. Highly ordered Co0.71Pt0.29 alloy nanowire arrays have been fabricated successfully by direct current electro-deposition into the pores of a porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template. SEM and TEM images reveal that the nanowires of array are uniform, well isolated, and parallel to one another. The aspect ratio of nanowires is over 200. XRD and EDS pattern indicates that amorphous Co0.71Pt0.29 structure was formed during electro-deposition. In amorphous sample, magnetocrystal anisotropy is very small, therefore, shape anisotropy plays a dominant role which leads to strong perpendicular anisotropy. High coercivity (Hc=1.7 kOe) and squareness (Mr/Ms) around 0.7 were obtained in the samples when the field was applied parallel to the axis of the nanowires. However, when it changed to polycrystalline structure after annealing, due to the competition of magnetocrystal anisotropy and shape anisotropy, the sample did not display perpendicular anisotropy.  相似文献

Magnetic and structural properties in [MnPd/Co]10 multilayers deposited onto Si(1 1 1) substrates have been investigated. The dependences of anisotropy and exchange bias on the thicknesses of both MnPd and Co layers have been studied. In most of the samples, the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy and both large out-of-plane and in-plane exchange biases have been observed at cryogenic temperature below the blocking temperature TB≈240 K. With appropriate MnPd and Co thicknesses, we have obtained samples with a large out-of-plane exchange bias along with a large out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy. The origin of the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy in the samples has been suggested to be due to the formation of CoPd interfacial alloys which have tensile in-plane strains, while the spin structure of the antiferromagnetic layer at the interface which is believed to be responsible for exchange bias may be the same as that of the bulk material. Also, the present study shows that the interplay between the out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy and exchange bias is evident in our multilayers and plays an important role in the out-of-plane exchange-bias mechanism.  相似文献

Superlattices of [001]fcc Co/Pd with varying Co thicknesses from one to eight atomic layers per modulation period were epitaxially grown on NaCl by vapour deposition in UHV. Transmission electron diffraction indicates lattice coherence between the Co and the Pd layers for Co thicknesses up to six atomic layers. If deposited at a substrate temperatureT s=50°C, only the superlattices containing Ci-monolayers show perpendicular magnetization. By raisingT s to 200°C, the perpendicular anisotropy for Co monolayers is increased, and is also observed for Co bilayers. We suggest that this is due tolayer smoothening, which increases Néel's interface anisotropy. For more than 6 atomic layers of Co a loss of coherence is observed atT s=50°C, accompanied by a structure transformation to hcp Co with a (0001)Co(111)Pd orientation.Non-epitaxial polycrystalline [111]-multilayers have a different anisotropy versus thickness behaviour. For such multilayers the range of Co thicknesses giving perpendicular magnetization is extended from 8 Å up to 12 Å atT s=200°C. The different behaviour of the single crystal [001] films is caused by a strong volume contribution to the anisotropy, which favours in-plane magnetization, opposing the perpendicular interface anisotropy. This easy-plane term is attributed to magneto-elastic anisotropy due to stretching of the Co layers, via a positive magnetostriction.  相似文献

We present a polarization-controlled terahertz (THz) wave spectroscopic imaging modality to investigate the anisotropy of the detected materials. The polarization of the emitted THz wave is controlled by changing the relative phase between the fundamental and second-harmonic waves in the two-color laser-induced air plasma THz generation configuration. The THz wave polarization direction is extracted by measuring the two electric field amplitudes when the polarization of the incident wave is controlled to be horizontal and vertical. The anisotropy of the industrial Sprayed-On-Foam-Insulation (SOFI) is characterized by measuring its azimuthal angle dependent THz polarization response. This work demonstrates that THz wave polarization-controlled imaging technique can be used for highly sensitive industrial nondestructive inspection and biological related characterization.  相似文献

A systematic study of the magnetic properties by ion beam sputter-deposition system, was conducted in conjunction with the structure of FePt/FeMn multilayers fabricated onto MgO(0 0 1) substrates. Both parallel and perpendicular exchange biases were observed in the multilayers and were found to decrease drastically, as the deposition temperature is higher than 350 °C, which is evidently due to the interdiffusion at the interface. The thickness dependence study shows that the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy observed in the multilayers originates from surface anisotropy, being consistent with the decrease of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as the deposition temperature is increased. The difference between parallel and perpendicular blocking temperatures that was clearly observed, is possibly due to the spin canting out of plane at the interface.  相似文献

We have used variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy to study the aggregation of two-dimensional Ag clusters on Pt(111). A transition from randomly ramified to dendritic fractal growth is observed in the diffusion-limited regime. Atomic-scale observations have identified the anisotropy of edge diffusion as microscopic origin of this crossover. Dependent on the deposition flux, this anisotropy is either amplified to the macroscopic-cluster shape and trigonal dendrites result, or it is degenerated and randomly ramified fractals occur. Our study elucidates the close relation between fractal and dendritic pattern formation in diffusion-limited aggregation on a two-dimensional lattice.  相似文献

The present paper reports sign inversion in dielectric anisotropy of a nematic liquid crystal, i.e. 5CB, as an effect of doping dye (solvent green 3) in small amount. It is the result of strong variation of the parallel component of dielectric permittivity with temperature for a dye doped sample. This behavior is attributed to the interaction taking place between the nematic liquid crystal molecule and the dye molecule. This behavior of dielectric anisotropy has been explained on the basis of interaction between the dye (guest) and the liquid crystal molecules (host).  相似文献

By Monte Carlo simulations in the canonical ensemble, we have studied the magnetic anisotropy in Fe/Dy amorphous multilayers. This work has been motivated by experimental results which show a clear correlation between the magnetic perpendicular anisotropy and the substrate temperature during elaboration of the samples. Our aim is to relate macroscopic magnetic properties of the multilayers to their structure, more precisely their concentration profile. Our model is based on concentration dependent exchange interactions and spin values, on random magnetic anisotropy and on the existence of locally ordered clusters that leads to a perpendicular magnetisation. Our results evidence that a compensation point occurs in the case of an abrupt concentration profile. Moreover, an increase of the non-collinearity of the atomic moments has been evidenced when the Dy anisotropy constant value grows. We have also shown the existence of inhomogeneous magnetisation profiles along the samples which are related to the concentration profiles.  相似文献

Magnetic anisotropy has been measured in multiply twinned, icosahedral cobalt clusters. It is found that the low-temperature magnetization of deposited cluster layers is well defined with the Stoner–Wohlfarth model by averaging over clusters with a range of anisotropy energy. Anisotropy energy calculation based on Néel's pair model shows that the icosahedral structure and the layer-by-layer growth of the clusters induce oscillations of the magnetic anisotropy as a function of the filling of the outer surface of the particle. The magnetization measurement at room temperature indicates a weakly correlated cluster glass, as deduced from the approach to saturation that is well described with 2D random anisotropy model.  相似文献

The nonlinear susceptibilities of uniaxially anisotropic ferromagnets are obtained analytically. The expressions show that the anisotropy effect on the first- and second-order components means just an increased H1a (the first-order anisotropy field) of the dc field H0 along the anisotropy axis, but the third-order components are complicated and new terms appear. Applying the above results to surface magnetostatic waves in the films, we find new magnetostatic modes from the joint effect of the anisotropy and nonlinearity since higher powers of frequency are introduced in the dispersion equation by the nonlinearity and anisotropy. Very obvious non-reciprocity is seen from the dispersion curves.  相似文献

This paper presents a calculation of the magnetic small-angle neutron scattering cross-section resulting from a dilute ensemble of superparamagnetic particles exhibiting uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. We focus on the two experimentally relevant scattering geometries in which the incident neutron beam is perpendicular or parallel to an applied magnetic field, and we discuss several orientations of the anisotropy axes with respect to the field. Magnetic anisotropy has no influence on the magnetic small-angle neutron scattering when the particles are mobile, as is the case e.g. in ferrofluids, but, when the particles are embedded in a rigid non-magnetic matrix and the orientations of the anisotropy axes are fixed, significant deviations compared to the case of negligible anisotropy are expected. For the particluar situation in which the anisotropy axes are parallel to the applied field, closed-form expressions suggest that an effective anisotropy energy or anisotropy-energy distribution can be determined from experimental scattering data.
