We theoretically study the quantum Fisher information(QFI) of the SU(1,1) interferometer with phase shifts in two arms by coherent ? squeezed vacuum state input, and give the comparison with the result of phase shift only in one arm.Different from the traditional Mach–Zehnder interferometer, the QFI of single-arm case for an SU(1,1) interferometer can be slightly higher or lower than that of two-arm case, which depends on the intensities of the two arms of the interferometer.For coherent ? squeezed vacuum state input with a fixed mean photon number, the optimal sensitivity is achieved with a squeezed vacuum input in one mode and the vacuum input in the other.  相似文献

We investigate the phase sensitivity of the SU(1,1) interfereometer [SU(1,1)I] and the modified Mach–Zehnder interferometer(MMZI) with the entangled coherent states(ECS) as inputs. We consider the ideal case and the situations in which the photon losses are taken into account. We find that, under ideal conditions, the phase sensitivity of both the MMZI and the SU(1,1)I can beat the shot-noise limit(SNL) and approach the Heisenberg limit(HL). In the presence of photon losses, the ECS can beat the coherent and squeezed states as inputs in the SU(1,1)I, and the MMZI is more robust against internal photon losses than the SU(1,1)I.  相似文献

We theoretically study the phase sensitivities of two different phase-shift configurations in an SU(1,1)interferometer with coherent ■ squeezed vacuum states.According to quantum Cramér-Rao theorem,we analytically obtain the ultimate phase sensitivities for two types of phase shift accumulating in one-and two-arm.Compared with the case of one-arm phase shift,the model with phase shift encoding in both arms may provide a better sensitivity when the strength of squeezed vacuum state is large enough.Furthermore,we discuss the achievable sensitivities with the homodyne measurement by invoking of error-propagation formula.In addition,we study the effect of internal and outernal photon losses on the phase sensitivity of the SU(1,1) interferometer and find that the unbalanced interferometer is helpful to improve precision even with high external losses.  相似文献

We study the phase sensitivity of an SU(1,1) interferometer with two input beams in the displaced squeezed vacuum state and the coherent state, respectively. We find that there exists an optimal squeezing fraction of the displaced squeezed vacuum state that optimizes the phase sensitivity. We also examine the effects of some factors, including the loss, mean photon number of the input beams and amplitude gain of the optical parameter amplifiers, on the optimal squeezing fraction so that we can choose the optimal values to enhance the phase sensitivity.  相似文献

We have constructed a new kind of two-mode bosonic realization of SU(1,1) Lie algebra, on the basis of which the SU(1,1) generalized coherent states in the two-mode Fock space are derived. These two-mode SU(1,1) coherent states, which are called uncorrelated two-mode SU(1,1) coherent states, include three special cases. For these states, we study the mean photon number distribution and their non-classical properties, which are photon anti-bunching, violations of Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and two-mode squeezing.  相似文献

Both the negativity of Wigner function and the phase sensitivity of an SU(1,1) interferometer are investigated in this paper. In the case that the even coherent state and squeezed vacuum state are input into the interferometer, the Heisenberg limit can be approached with parity detection. At the same time, the negativity volume of Wigner function of detection mode comes entirely from the input state and varies periodically with the encoding phase. In addition, the negativity volume of Wigner function is positively correlated with the phase sensitivity of the SU(1,1) interferometer. The positive correlation may mean that the non-classicality indicated by negative Wigner function is a kind of resource that can verify some related research results of phase estimation.  相似文献

We propose an approach with displaced states to use it for rotations of base coherent states and squeezed coherent states. Our approach is based on representation of the coherent states in free-traveling fields in terms of displaced number states with arbitrary amplitude of displacement. Two optical schemes are developed for construction of Hadamard gate for the base states. One of the optical schemes is based on alternation of photon additions and displacement operators (in general case, N-photon additions and N?1-displacements are required) to generate displaced squeezed even/odd superposition of coherent states (SCSs) with high fidelity in dependency on type (computational zero or one) of the base input state. Another optical scheme uses two-photon subtracted squeezed coherent states to approximate outcome of the Hadamard gate for the base squeezed coherent states. Output states approximate with high fidelity either even squeezed SCS or odd SCS shifted relative to each other by some value. It enables to adjust the optical scheme for construction of the Hadamard gate being mainframe element for quantum computation with basic squeezed coherent states.  相似文献

SU(1,1) interferometers play an important role in quantum metrology. Previous studies focus on various inputs and detection strategies with symmetric gain. In this paper, we analyze a modified SU(1,1) interferometer using asymmetric gain. Two vacuum states are used as the input and on-off detection is performed at the output. In a lossless scenario, symmetric gain is the optimal selection and the corresponding phase sensitivity can achieve the Heisenberg limit as well as the quantum Cramer-Rao bound. In addition, we analyze the phase sensitivity with symmetric gain in the lossy scenario. The phase sensitivity is sensitive to internal losses but extremely robust against external losses. We address the optimal asymmetric gain and the results suggest that this method can improve the tolerance to internal losses. Our work may contribute to the practical development of quantum metrology.  相似文献

Exact quantum states of the time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian system are investigated using SU(1,1) Lie algebra. We realized SU(1,1) Lie algebra by defining appropriate SU(1,1) generators and derived exact wave functions using this algebra for the system. Raising and lowering operators of SU(1,1) Lie algebra expressed by multiplying a time-constant magnitude and a time-dependent phase factor. Two kinds of the SU(1,1) coherent states, i.e., even and odd coherent states and Perelomov coherent states are studied. We applied our result to the Caldirola–Kanai oscillator. The probability density of these coherent states for the Caldirola–Kanai oscillator converged to the center as time goes by, due to the damping constant γ. The nonlinear extensions of the single-mode squeezed vacuum and squeezed coherent states are studied. We have constructed the nonlinear squeezed states (NLSS's) realization of SU(1,1) Lie algebra. Two cases of this realization are considered for unitary and non-unitary deformation operator function. The nonlinear squeezed coherent states (NLSCS's) are defined and special cases of these states are obtained. Some nonclassical properties of these states are discussed. The s-parameterized characteristic function and various moments are calculated. The Glauber second-order coherence function is calculated. The squeezing properties of the NLSCS's are studied. Analytical and numerical results for the quadrature component distributions for the NLSCS's are presented. A generation scheme for NLSCS's using the trapped ions centre-of-mass motion approach is proposed.  相似文献

In scenarios of quantum metrology, the unitary parametrization process often depends on space directions. How to characterize the sensitivity of parameter estimation to space directions is a natural question. We propose the concept of the quantum Fisher information(QFI) width, which is the difference between the maximum and minimum values of the QFI, to quantitatively study the sensitivity. We find that Fock states, the bosonic coherent states, and the displaced Fock states all have zero widths, indicating that QFI is completely inert over all directions, while the width for the spin state with all spins down or up is equal to the number of particles, so this concept will enable us to choose appropriate directions to make unitary transformation to obtain larger QFI.The QFI width of the displaced quantum states is found to be independent of the magnitude of the displacement for both spin and bosonic systems. We also find some relations between the QFI width and squeezing parameters.  相似文献

For nonlinear interactions with different forms of intensity-dependent coupling, entanglement transfer from the correlated two-mode SU(1,1) coherent states (SCS) to the initially separable and mixed atoms is investigated. It is found that suitable intensity-dependent coupling can enhance the entanglement transfer and make the atomic entanglement evolve periodically especially for the initially mixed atomic states. For SCS, the entanglement between the two modes is strengthened with the increase of the photon number difference (PND) between the two modes of the fields. When PND is odd, the entanglement between the atoms is less than that when PND is even.  相似文献

We propose a theoretical scheme of an enhanced phase sensitivity by introducing a nonlinear phase shifter to the nonconventional interferometer consisting of a balanced beam splitter (BBS) and an optical parameter amplifier (OPA), a modified nonlinear interferometer (MNI). Then we use coherent state and even coherent state as inputs and homodyne detection at one output port of the MNI for phase sensitivity, both without and with photon losses. We find that the nonlinear phase shifter can not only improve phase sensitivity, but also significantly resist the decoherence from photon losses. In comparison to both the BBS+OPA scheme with linear phase shifter and the traditional Mach–Zehnder interferometer with nonlinear one, the phase sensitivity of the MNI scheme shows the best performance. It is interesting that the nonlinear phase shifter can stimulate potential of the OPA, although there is no improvement in signal-to-noise ratio beyond standard quantum limit for the BBS+OPA scheme with a linear phase shifter.  相似文献

With reference to squeezed states, we analyse the noise performances of the basic detection schemes in fibre telecommunications and interferometry. We have developed a semiclassical approach that allows us to translate the quantum mechanical formalism into synthetic expressions and rules only involving directly measurable physical quantities. As a result, we find that in the telecommunication field squeezed states do not allow significant improvements in system performances: in practice, the signal-to-noise ratio cannot be increased in standard detection schemes, both direct and coherent, by squeezing either the signal (because of propagation losses) or by the local oscillator. On the contrary, a significant improvement can be obtained in interferometric measurements if squeezed vacuum is coupled into the normally unused beamsplitter port.  相似文献

We study the method of generation of states that approximate superpositions of large-amplitude coherent states (SCSs) with high fidelity in free-traveling fields. Our approach is based on the representation of an arbitrary single-mode pure state, and SCSs in particular, in terms of displaced number states with an arbitrary displacement amplitude. The proposed optical scheme is based on alternation of photon additions and displacement operators (in the general case, N photon additions and N − 1 displacements are required) with a seed coherent state to generate both even and odd displaced squeezed SCSs regardless of the parity of the used photon additions. It is shown that the optical scheme studied is sensitive to the seed coherent state if the other parameters are unchanged. Output states can approximate either even squeezed SCS or odd SCS shifted relative to each other by some value. This allows constructing a local rotation operator, in particular, the Hadamard gate, which is a mainframe element for quantum computation with coherent states. We also show that three-photon additions with two intermediate displacement operators are sufficient to generate even displaced squeezed SCS with the amplitude 1.7 and fidelity more than 0.99. The effects deteriorating the quality of output states are considered.  相似文献
