Abstract: | This article presents a review of the state of the art of materials used in spintronics. It is devoted to materials exhibiting novel and exciting electronic properties: manganites, double perovskites, spinel ferrites and diluted magnetic semiconductors. We present the main features of these classes of materials as well as the most important solid state physics results obtained from them in the field of spintronics. To cite this article: J.
