| Abstract: | Simultaneous interval elimination is considered in order to shorten the length of the interval containing the location of the maximum value of a strictly unimodal function on the unit interval. As well known, the optimal choice of the points of evaluation is not unique, if the maximum value of spacings is used as an objective function. It is shown in this note that the mean value gives unique optimal solutions. |
