Freie Konvektion in einem flachen Behälter mit und ohne Rotation

Abstract:For a horizontal water layer with isothermal vertical end walls keept at a constant temperature difference of 0 ? ΔT ? 50 K and rotating arround its vertical axis, the temperature and velocity field was experimentally investigated at angular velocities of Ω=0, 0.934, 1.321 and 1.868 1/s. The test facilities are discribed. The flow patterns found experimentally can be arranged in a Gr/Ta2 ?Ta2 diagram. For Ω=0 a stability analysis results in the prediction of the velocity profiles and their dependence on the temperature difference. For Ω ≠ 0 a stability analysis leads to qualitative results.
