Abstract: | Electromagnetically induced transparency in ideal Λ atoms involves lossless propagation for paired fields with locked phase difference. Coupled equations for atomic and field vectors are solved to demonstrate that such a normal-mode propagation is stable against perturbations produced by off-resonance transitions, which can be present in real atoms. |
