Abstract: | The thermal destruction of ammonium penta-, tetra-, and trichlorocobaltates(II) was studied. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data was used to calculate the thermal destruction activation energy, which was 8.6 kJ/mol for (NH4)3CoCl5, 14.8 kJ/mol for (NH4)2CoCl4, and 117.4 kJ/mol for NH4CoCl3. The decomposition enthalpy of 35.9 kJ/mol for (NH4)3CoCl5, 12.1 kJ/mol for (NH4)2CoCl4, and 166.3 kJ/mol for NH4CoCl3 was determined from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data. |
