| Abstract: | Two ferroelectric liquid crystals containing the naphthalene moiety were synthesized from 2(S)-[2(R)-methylhexyloxy]propionic acid and its (S, S)-diastereomer. Their mesogenic properties are compared with those of the analogous mesogens containing the biphenyl ring. |
