| Abstract: | The regioselective NaBH4/H+ reduction of α,α-disubstituted succinimides offers a method for a short and stereoselective total synthesis of dl-physostigmine in which the key-step is the formation of the B-ring via amine substitution on a ω-carbinol-lactam. |
