| Abstract: | A difference frequency resonance has been observed for the 747 cm?1 vibration in the first excited singlet state of pentacene in benzoic acid. The resonance is absent at low temperature (4.5 K) and its appearance is exponentially activated with an activation energy of 13.8 cm?1. These observations are compared to theoretical expectations. |
