Abstract: | The first high-resolution CH stretch vibrations in submonolayers of molecules adsorbed on a single-crystalline surface have been obtained by infrared spectroscopy. Investigation of symmetric and asymmetric vibrational modes of CH3O adsorbed on Cu(l00) shows that the molecules are tilted on the surface, that nearest-neighbour interactions are important and that the intrinsic peak widths are large. |
