| Abstract: | The kinetics of spontaneous hydrolysis of dialkylsubstituted ketenes in water-acetonitrile mixtures at 20°C has been studied. An increase of the total volume of substituents at the terminal carbon atom of the ketenes leads to a sharp decrease of hydration rate, which is connected with the non-additivity of substituent effects. The possible reasons are discussed in terms of the reaction mechanism. |
