Abstract: | It is generally considered that for a so-called normal system dissipation decreases tunneling rates. Here we show that at least one example of a normal heat bath, the blackbody radiation field, leads to an increase in tunneling. The reason for this exception to the general rule is the presence of mass renormalization. |
