Abstract:The design and establishment of an electromagnetic acoustic experimental system for research on the electromagnetic acoustic inspection method and technique was presented. With the system, a series of experiments have been carried out, such as cutting shadow area, disbonding inspection of the multiple rubber layers under the steel layer, chirp pulse compression, etc. The experiment results show that the system is able to control the experiment parameters accurately and generate two kinds of driving pulses such as tone-burst and chirp pulse. It has the higher signal-noise ratio and shorter shadow area and it also has the function of chirp pulse compression. The results of the disbonding inspection of the multiple rubber layers under the steel layer with the experimental system given by this paper are comparable to the results of the disbonding inspection of the same structure with the piezoelectric ultrasonic inspection system. The system is significant to the researches on the electromagnetic acoustic inspection method and technique, and it's also significant to the practical inspection application as a research tool.
