Abstract: | Relative constants of acidity and basicity of nucleic acid bases (NABs) and their tautomeric forms are calculated. The general characteristic of the effect of an aqueous solvent on the tautomeric equilibrium of NABs is formulated. It is shown that during the tautomeric transformation of NABs their acid-base properties change to the opposite ones. One of possible causes of the formation of complementary pairs with rare tautomeric forms of NABs is considered. |
