Abstract:Polybutadiene rubber, natural rubber and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber cured with sulphur and accelerators were characterized by high-resolution pyrolysis-gas chromatography with a sulphur-selective flame photometric detector. With the three polymer systems, various sulphur-containing products characteristic of the base polymers and vulcanization accelerators were observed. The vulcanization process for polybutadiene rubber is discussed on the basis of the relationships between the peak intensities of the characteristic products and cure time.
