| Abstract: | A new appropriate maximum overlap method for the construction of the best hybrid orbitals proposed by Murrell and simplified by Golebiewski has been extended simultaneously to the central atom and its ligands. Simple and explicit matrix formulae for the best hybrids are given and, as a particular example, chlorine trifluoride is considered explicitly. |
