| Abstract: | Methods for the preparation and use of a solution of ammonium hexanitratocerate(IV) in acetic acid as a titrant for the oxidation of alpha-hydroxy and alpha-keto carboxylic acids in acetic acid are presented. The applicability of this reagent with respect to the stoichiometry, products and reaction times obtained is discussed. |
