| Abstract: | The complexation of lead ions with itaconic acid (H(2) A) has been studied polarographically at 30 degrees . At pH < pK(1), the complex species Pb(HA)(+) was identified. At pK(1) < pH < pK(2) and pH > pK(2) the formation of Pb(A) and Pb(A)(2)(2-) respectively, was confirmed. The dissociation constant of Pb(A)(2)(2-) was found to be 8.3 x 10(-5). The electrode reactions were established. |
