| Abstract: | Different continued-fraction formalisms of the eigenvalue problem involving three atomic levels are shown to yield expressions for resonance lineshapes equivalent to those obtained using degenerate perturbation theory. New expressions for the linewidth and distortion of a spin-1 resonance are given. |
