On the biosynthesis of dendrolasin, a body constituent of the ant Lasius fuliginosus Latr

By feeding the ant Lasius fuliginosus LATR . with ¹⁴C]-1-acetate, ¹⁴C]-2-acetate, ¹⁴C]-2-mevalonate, ¹⁴C]-2-mevalonate, ¹⁴C]-1-glucose and ¹⁴C]-U-glucose, incorporation ratios of 10^?4 – 0,15% were obtained in the sesquiterpenoid dendrolasin. It was shown by analysis of the labelling pattern in dendrolasin that the insertions were spread over the whole molecule in exactly the manner that would be expected from terpene biosynthesis.
