Optimal control of a dynamical system representing a gantry crane

Abstract:Problems arising in the optimal control of gantry crane instaliations are considered. Continuous controls to minimize a control squared objective function are obtained. The amplitude of in-plane oscillations of the suspended mass is assumed small. The optimal controls are sufficiently simple for practical realization.
