Material force method: theoretical and numerical aspects in nonlinear electro-elastostatics

Abstract:Formulations of the spatial and material motion problem in nonlinear electroelastostatics are considered in this work by a virtual work approach. Based on these formulations, a finite element discretization is realized and a numerical example is presented to demonstrate possible uses of the material force method in studying the closing process of cracks.
