Abstract: | This paper presents a plane strain gradient elasticity model together with a strength criterion based on the maximum hoop stress. It is developed by higher order homogenization based on a cylindrical RVE containing a void and is implemented as mixed–type finite element formulation into the FE–code Abaqus.
