Abstract: | Magnetic susceptibilities of nickel-rich nickel-germanium solid solution (8 compositions) have been studied as a function of temperature up to 1500°K. The results support the previous conclusion, obtained on nickel binary alloys with vanadium, niobium, and tantalum, that the magnetic susceptibility does not follow the modified Curie-Weiss law commonly assumed to hold for nickel alloys. The inadequacy of this law is briefly discussed. From electrical restivity measurements at low temperatures it is inferred that residual resistivity contribution of germanium is about 2.8μΩ cm per atom percent. |
