Mode III eccentric crack in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip

Abstract:This paper studies the internal crack problem located within one functionally graded piezoelectric strip. One crack is normal to the edge of the strip and the material properties vary along the direction of crack length. Three different boundary conditions and both impermeable and permeable cases are discussed. The problem can be reduced to a system of singular integral equations and solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev formulas. The results show that the edge boundary conditions and the nonhomogeneous parameter significantly control the magnitudes of stress and electric displacement intensity factors.
