The heat capacity of NdPO4

Abstract:The heat capacity of neodymium orthophosphate has been measured in the temperature range (0.6 to 1570) K. From the results the excess (electronic) heat capacity has been derived by subtracting the lattice heat capacity derived from the heat capacity of the isostructural LaPO4 and GdPO4, reported earlier. The calculated excess heat capacity thus obtained is in reasonable agreement with that calculated from the crystal field energies.
