| Abstract: | A simple in form and physically clear asymptotic solution of the problem of the motion (without friction) of a point mass acted upon by a specified external force on a string on a Winkler foundation is obtained, taking into account the wave drag on the motion. It is shown that the point mass moves along the string in the same way as a point with a variable velocity-dependent mass would move when acted upon solely by an external force (ignoring drag). |
