SEMI-DISCRETE AND FULLY DISCRETE PARTIALPROJECTION FINITE ELEMENT METHODS FOR THEVIBRATING TIMOSHENKO BEAM

In this paper, the partial projection finite element method is applied to thetime-dependent problem-the damped vibrating Timoshenko beam model. It isproved that this method allows some new combinations of interpolations for stressand displacement fields. When assuming that a smooth solution exists, we obtainoptimal convergence rates with constants independent of the beam thickness.
