大小凉山彝族宗法性婚姻形态，是整个彝族法制度的重要组成部分，它同时也是我国南方少数民族宗性法性婚姻的典型代表之一。建国前、大小凉山彝族的宗法性婚姻形态主要包括聘娶婚、姑舅表优先婚、转房、赘婿及重婚五种形式，从其婚姻缔结原则和内容上看，都充分体现了夫权、父权与族权的重要影响作用。
