On the Non-Splitting of the Normal Bundle Sequence

In a recent article, Paltin Ionescu and Flavia Repetto proved that if X ? ? ⁿ is a smooth projective variety over ? such that its normal bundle sequence splits over some curve C ? X, then X a linear subspace in ? ⁿ . In this note, we give a purely geometric proof of this result that is valid in arbitrary characteristic.
