Structure of the products of the reaction of 9,10-dimethylacridinium salts with aromatic o-hydroxy aldehydes

The reaction of 9,10-dimethylacridinium methosulfate with aromatic o-hydroxy aldehydes in alcohol in the presence of piperidine gives 10-methyl-4-(10-methyl-9-acridanylidenemethyl)-spiro[acridan-9,2-chromans].
