Magnon Light Scattering from In-BCVIG Single Crytal |

| Abstract: | Abstract The first evidence for the dipole exchange surface magnons in ferrimagnetic garnets is reported by Brillouin scattering. The crystal,{Bi 3-2x Ca 2x }, Fe 2-y Iny](Fe 3-x V x)O 12 (x=1.14, and y=0.13), is close to the compositional compensation point of magnetization. The surface magnons, are weak but clearly discernible and show characteristic overlap with the bulk magnons. The mixing intensifies with increasing external field. The stiffness constant D of In-BCVIG determined from the dispersion relation was found to be much larger than those of YIG and Bi:YIG, and to be very sensitive to excitation power. |
