| Abstract: | Nowadays,connecting two metal oxide varistors(MOV) in parallel is always used to improve the surge current capacity and the voltage protection level of surge protective devices(SPD).According to the volt-ampere characteristic of ZnO varistor,a lot of experiments were performed with impact generator(HAEFELY PSURGE 30.2) and DC parameter measurement device for MOV(CJ1001).The results show that U1mA can be used for the selection of MOV for parallel connection.The surge current capacity of the parallel-connected MOV is 40-60% larger than that of single MOV.Moreover,connecting two MOV in parallel reduces the residual voltage and improves the voltage protection level of SPD. |
