Abstract:A molecular beam of C6F5Cl was photolyzed using an excimer laser at 193 nm. Measurements of time-of-flight distributions of the Cl photofragment revealed a prominent fluorination effect on the dissociation process, namely a large reduction of the kinetic energy of the fragments. The dominant process is dissociation after thermalization to the ground state.
