| Abstract: | By using a cw tunable CO2 laser, a bimolecular reaction can be induced in a binary SO2-CO gas mixture with one reactant (SO2) as photoabsorbing species. The participation of a metastable triplet state of SO2 responsible for the CO photo-oxidation is demonstrated and the minimum overall internal free energy of the reaction is estimated. |
