| Abstract: | A theory of best restricted range approximation is developed for an extended n-dimensional Chebyshev subspace of C[a,b] of order n without restricting the upper and lower restraining functions. This theory includes a “zero in the convex hull” characterization, an alternation theorem, and a strong uniqueness theorem. |
