Numerical Locking Problems for Hyperbolic Equations

Abstract:We investigate a time-dependent model concerning the “locking phenomenon,” namely a model for three-dimensional clamped curved rods. We show that the convergence of the numerical schemes is independent of the discretization parameters and the thickness of the rod. We present corresponding numerical experiments.
