Abstract:A combined function superconducting magnet prototype based on Canted-Cosine-Theta(CCT) type was developed. This magnet produced a quadrupole gradient field of 22 T/m and a hexapole gradient field of 120 T/m2. The coil aperture of the combined magnet was 200 mm, and the good field region was Φ0.16 m×1.3 m. Both of the quadrupole and hexapole magnets consisted of two layer coil frames with a shape of cylindrical tube which would be finally put together. The superconducting wires were placed side by side into the grooves which were machined on the tubes in accordance with the trajectory of the conductors. To restrict the electromagnetic force on the conductors, the coil support frames and the internal and external support structure were designed. In this paper the design and fabrication of the magnet were presented in detail. The test of magnetic field was also reported.
