Thermodynamical information on quark matter from the nucleon valence quark distribution

If the valence quarks in the nucleon are considered as a gas of the non-interacting massless particles, an expression of the xF₃(x) structure function is obtained which reproduces very well the experimental $\text{v(}\text{v}\text{)}$N data in the range 0.1?x?0.8. The effective temperature of such a quark gas is found to be of the order of 50 MeV.
