Gamma-spectrometric determination of uranium isotopes in biofuel ash

Gamma-ray measurements have been performed on biofuel samples using a planar intrinsic Ge detector. The samples were first homogenized and then packed into 90 ml plastic tubs. The radiation from each sample was usually measured for 1 to 2 days. The intensity of the 63.3 keV -ray in²³⁴Th was used to determine the amount of²³⁸U present. The amount of²³⁵U can be determined from the intensity of the 143.8 keV -ray.
