Electrochemical preparation of thin rhenium-tellurium coatings from chloride-borate electrolyte

The kinetics and mechanism of cathode electrodeposition of thin Re-Te films from a chloride-borate electrolyte containing NH₄ReO₄, TeO₂, HCl, and H₃BO₃ were studied. The region of potentials in which rhenium is electrodeposited together with tellurium was determined by cyclic voltammetry. The combined electrodeposition of rhenium and tellurium occurred with minor depolarization due to the energy liberated during the formation of the Re-Te alloy.
