Reaction of ethylene oxide with methyl isothiocyanate

Abstract:Summary When ethylene oxide reacts with methyl isothiocyanate in the presence of tetraethylammonium bromide, basically a compound of the spiran type (I) is obtained; thermal decomposition of this compound results in the formation of the trimethyl ester of dithioisocyanuric acid and ethylene sulfide.
