Planning and Control of R & D Activities

Despite the success of network techniques for planning maintenance and construction projects there has been little application in R & D. Extensions to network planning techniques to allow their use in R & D are described and potential areas of cost and benefit stemming from their use identified. Some applications of planning methods in R & D are considered and conclusions are drawn concerning the difficulties to be faced, and the strategies to be adopted, in their implementation.
