Abstract:An enzyme-free amperometric glucose sensor of gold nanoparticle-constituted nanotube array electrode is presented. The resulted gold nanotube array electrode with significantly enhanced surface roughness shows prominent catalytic activity toward the electrooxidation of glucose in a pH 7.4 phosphate buffer (PBS) solution and thus can be used to individually or simultaneously determine glucose and the common interfering molecule of ascorbic acid (AA). In the case of glucose detection, the amperometric responses show a linear relationship to glucose concentration in the range of 1 mM–42.5 mM with a detection limit down to 10 μM. The present non-enzymatic glucose electrochemical biosensor shows a good stability and reproducibility.
