Abstract: | A new thallium(I) coordination polymer, [Tl2L · H2O]n ( 1 ) [H2L = 5‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)tetrazole], was synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and X‐ray crystallography. The single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction data of compound 1 show the existence of two different TlI ions with differing coordination numbers. The coordination number of TlI(1) is four and that of TlI(2) is two. This coordination polymer was used as a precursor for the preparation of TlIII oxide nanoparticles. Thallium(III) oxide was characterized by powder X‐ray diffraction and the morphology of nanoparticles characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). |
