Abstract: | This review highlights the use of linear solvation energy relationships (LSERs) to evaluate liquid chromatography systems. From the systems investigated, this paper discusses the descriptors of solutes and the coefficients of various descriptors in detail. Descriptors, such as the solute size, polarity/polarizability, hydrogen bond acidity, and hydrogen bond basicity, in the LSER were examined. The effects of the stationary phase and mobile phase properties on the coefficients of these descriptors were reviewed. The LSER coefficients were evaluated in terms of the corresponding properties of the stationary phase and mobile phase. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. |
