Abstract: | Models for pion-nucleon scattering with rising cross sections are analyzed using dispersive sum rules which are valid for the inverse of the scattering amplitude. The validity of these sum rules is intimately connected with the positivity of Im T(s, t = 0). A numerical analysis shows that some of the models have difficulties when analytically continued into the complex energy plane. |
